You might want to give Easypeasy a spin, as that's even further optimized for the smaller screen real estate of netbooks, and has a smaller overall system footprint as well. In my case that's really important, as I have an even smaller precursor of your Eee PC (the 701 4G model, now almost 3 years old) and since I got that distro, I never looked back. You can get Easypeasy here.And yeah, I fully agree on going for a netbook instead of an iPad: multitasking is a must for me, too. Some of the current Asus netbooks have an incredibly thrifty battery life as well, so I guess you know what my next netbook will be.

I like the EeePC for an on the go devise. Coupling it with Eeebuntu makes it all the better.

The only thing can top the EeePC is the Dell mini 10v. Capable of running MS, OSX and Gnu/Linux strait from the box without much fuss. At a $300 price tag makes it easy on the bank account.

Sounds like you made a wise choice with the EeePC and Eeebuntu. I hope you all the best of luck.

Funny, I was debating getting a new personal laptop recently and saw one of these models in BestBuy.

Haven’t picked mine up yet but for the price… you can’t beat it.
